π ABOUT BRACHIOSAURUS
Meet Brachiosaurus, the 'Arm Lizard'! This gentle giant was one of the tallest dinosaurs ever, munching on leaves way up high in the trees!
Imagine a dinosaur so tall it could peek into a four-story building! That's Brachiosaurus! Its name means 'arm lizard,' because its front legs were longer than its back legs β a bit unusual for a dinosaur. Brachiosaurus lived during the Late Jurassic period, about 154 to 150 million years ago. It was a herbivore, meaning it only ate plants. This super-sized dino used its long neck to reach the tastiest leaves at the tops of tall trees.
Brachiosaurus belonged to a group called sauropods, known for their long necks and tails. They walked on four legs and were quite slow, probably only moving about 10 kilometers per hour. Scientists found the first Brachiosaurus fossils in Colorado, USA, back in 1900. Since then, fossils have also been found in Tanzania and Algeria, showing us that this amazing animal roamed across vast distances long ago. With its enormous size and gentle nature, Brachiosaurus remains one of the most iconic dinosaurs of all time.
